Aledo Music Enrichment Program
The Aledo Independent School District has traditionally offered students the opportunity to study privately through an organized private lesson program through the Fine Arts Private Lesson Program. Private lessons are offered as a supplement to classroom instruction. Participation in the supplemental lesson program is optional, unless you play Oboe or Bassoon. Private lessons for these instruments were communicated at the Beginner Band Fair. Private lessons allow students to reinforce and receive personal insight on the fundamentals that will help them be successful as a musician, as well as allow them to move at an accelerated pace beyond that of the normal band class. All students will have access to supplemental lessons based upon the private instructor’s availability.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY TO THE PRIVATE INSTRUCTOR
1. Be fully prepared for each lesson.
2. Supply the method books and other materials as required by private study.
3. Participate in all activities required as a condition of private study.
4. Notify the instructor within 24 hours if a lesson is to be canceled unless there is an
emergency.
LESSON LOCATION AND SCHEDULING
Lessons will be taught at the school the student attends. Exception: All summer lessons will be at the Daniel 9th Grade Band Hall. All lessons will be scheduled by the private instructor. Lessons can be scheduled during the student’s band class, during lunch (HS Only) , flex periods, and before/after school. No lessons will be scheduled during academic time. Should the instructor be unable to teach a lesson, missed lessons will be made-up. The band directors will aid the student by advising the private lesson instructor of concerts, programs, holidays, testing, etc, which would result in any interruption of the regular lesson schedule.
FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
Instructors will be paid a maximum of $25.00 per lesson. Lessons are twenty-two minutes to thirty minutes long, depending on the student’s class period. Instructors will be paid directly by the student at the time of the lesson or monthly. Checks or electronic transfers should be made payable to the private lesson instructor. Financial Aid lesson scholarships are available through the Band Boosters. Should you have specific questions about any part of the program or financial aid scholarship please contact Director of Bands-Joey Paul at [email protected].
